You love supporting families—

but when latching is difficult, it can feel like something’s missing.

You’ve adjusted positioning. Tried leaning back, sandwiching tissue, flipping lips. You’ve reassured them that pain isn’t normal.

But when nothing helps, the only options left are often to refer out—or wait and hope it gets better.

You’re not doing anything wrong.
You just haven’t been given a clear way to understand what’s happening.
Or what to do instead.

Latching support can quickly break down when things get complicated.
Latching support can quickly break down when things get complicated.

Traditional latching support gives you two choices: Step back and hope the baby figures it out—or step in and manage the whole process for them.

But many babies fall somewhere in the middle—able to do some parts of the latch on their own, but not all of it without causing pain, damage, or frustration.

Knowing when—and how—to help those babies feels confusing, especially in urgent situations where emotions are high.

So it's no surprise that even skilled clinicians run out of options.  Not because they’re doing anything wrong— but because we’ve never been taught how to support babies in that middle space.

And that’s where reflexes come into play.

Reflexes do more than help you fix a latch.
They help you build a better one.

Latching is meant to happen naturally. But when it doesn’t, reflexes help you understand what’s getting in the way—and how to guide the baby as they build the skills they need. To make that work, you need strategies families can actually use—especially when you’re not in the room.

You need reflex-based latching strategies that are:

Easy

Turn tricky latching into clear, simple steps families can follow confidently—making support feel accessible to everyone.

Understandable

Easily explain how babies’ bodies work, helping families feel confident and empowered—not overwhelmed.

Adaptable

Modify your support to fit each dyad’s unique needs, with a repeatable framework that creates individualized care.

Hi there! I'm Avery. I’ve been there—at the bedside, trying to help a latch that should be working but isn’t, wondering if I was missing something everyone else seemed to know.

The truth is—I was. Not because I lacked skill, but because I didn’t have a way to support how babies actually learn to latch. That’s where I stayed—until I started using infant reflexes to guide latch support.

Almost 10 years ago, I dove head-first into studying reflexes. What I discovered changed everything: as a profession, we haven’t been supporting infants with a reflex-first approach. More importantly, I saw how much positive change happens when we do.

It wasn’t an instant breakthrough—I experimented, observed, and refined my approach over several years in my private practice. But when the right pieces finally fell into place, everything clicked.

Once I saw how powerful this approach could be, I knew it needed to be shared. And as I shared it, witnessing the results other professionals saw, I knew it needed to be amplified.

So, I created this course—combining my love of reflexes with my passion for teaching—to help lactation professionals use reflexes in real time, so feeding feels better and progress feels possible for every family.
