The best nipple shield is the one that fits your body best, feels soft on your skin, and stays in place as much as possible while feeding.
You can measure for a nipple shield the same way you measure for a breast pump flange. But with a shield, you want it to be a few millimeters larger than your nipple, not an exact match. A good fit should be soft enough to mold to your body but still firm enough for your baby to latch well.

Hi! I’m Avery—an IBCLC and educator with over twenty-five years of experience, and I'm so glad you're here. I started this blog because I know how overwhelming it can feel when feeding doesn’t go the way it’s “supposed to.”
After working with hundreds (and hundreds) of families, I wanted a space to share what actually works—clearly, compassionately, and without all the noise.
